You are a problem-solver. You dream of a career in designing brands, interfaces, experiences, services, and beyond. Learn design methods and practices in courses like Typography, Corporate Identity, and 3D Design.
Graphic designers plan, analyze, create, and evaluate visual solutions for a wide range of communication problems. Their work ranges from the development of strategies to solve large-scale problems to the design of effective communication products.
This B.F.A. program includes courses in drawing/rendering skills, design theory, composition, digital design, typography, packaging design, and corporate identity. Winthrop design graduates are prepared to pursue careers with design firms, advertising and branding agencies, publishers, website and video game developers, or as independent freelancers and entrepreneurs.
Students are presented many opportunities to work in professional settings over the course of their degree, including local and regional design competitions, internships, client-driven work and study abroad.
Winthrop graphic design faculty are seasoned professionals with years of experience working in the industry and educating aspiring designers. Students gain practical experience throughout their studies with the guidance of our accomplished and recognized faculty.
“Winthrop’s arts program is tough, but it will prepare you for the world outside campus. The faculty truly care about your success, but you cannot simply rely on what you learn in the classroom. You need to experience new things on campus, meet new people, and put yourself out there. Truly live the liberal arts education rather than locking yourself away in the studio or practice room. You will be better for it!” – Class of 2012
